A mixed-use project called Promenade At The Lyric could break ground in Overtown by November.
Gatehouse Group of Cos. is proposing to develop the project, after winning bidding for a CRA parcel called Block 36.
Last week, the Southeast Overtown/Park West Community Redevelopment Agency inked a utilities deal with the county to allow the project to be built. It will include:
26,850 square feet of retail
28,150 square feet of office
Kobi Karp is the architect.
The CRA’s developer must begin construction by November 11 or the land will revert to the county. According to the Miami Times, county commissioner Audrey Edmonson is eager to take back the land.
Across the street, the county already took back Block 45 from the CRA after Donahue Peebles failed to develop a project that he proposed.
Edmonson now wants a project with a “Bahamian-type theme” to be developed on Block 45.
